About us

Founded in 2008, we are a small family company based in Zizkov in Prague. We specialise in supplying a wide range of stylish bedding, towel and home accessory products sold through the Christy.cz website.

Our idea

The idea for the company began in August 2008, when we identified a gap in the market for beautiful but affordable bedding and towels. We had invested in a new flat in Prague, but could not find modern and stylish bedding and towels at a reasonable price. The Czech market then, as now, seems to be polarised between low quality 'cheap' designs and the unaffordable 'designer' end of the market.
So from the idea, we decided to find suppliers and set up a website to supply products nationally without the overheads of a retail premises.

The beginning

By December 2008, we had identified and met her supplier – the most modern and stylish seller of bedding and towels in the UK, Christy. We were impressed with Christy’s history of outstanding quality, lavish designs and innovative fabrics (including silk, bamboo and modal), and were also happy for their ability to keep prices down because of their large production rate. We scraped together some savings, and with pen and paper, we started to sketch out the look of the site for the web designers. We begged Christy for photos for the products, and gradually the website came together.

Spreading the word

The budget we had left was next to nothing for advertising, so we are currently relying on word of mouth to help spread the word about the quality and design of our goods. We are also great believers in treating customers the way we would like to be treated, so we ensure that our customer service is also top-quality. We do find that, once customers find the site and place an order, they keep coming back again and again.

The future

Starting the e-shop was a gamble, but we believe in the concept, love the products, and have an intuition that the timing is right. We also plan to widen the product range with more and more products for the home.
Sales are increasing and the site is gaining in popularity, but we will never lose sight of our core values: high quality, the most modern fabrics and designs, at an affordable price, coupled with the highest possible level of customer service.
